Think outside the box when creating a meal

I like to think of cooking as a creative endeavor. Trying out new combinations or flavors is so rewarding when it turns out well! Trial and error can turn into a family favorite.
Most of the time putting things together that haven't been tried before can cause some anxiety. Trying a new way of preparing something you've cooked before can be fucking scary.
A lot of what I do is go to my pantry/fridge and see what I have on hand. Many times I just start pulling foods out and throwing things together. If you've got canned tomatoes, rice, pasta, or beans in your pantry and ground turkey or beef you can easily throw a great meal together easily.
Cooking is a lot of fun and being hella creative makes it even more so. It's so easy to throw a bunch of stuff together and make a tasty goulash. It's things like that where you can get creative. So the recipe calls for garlic and onion try shallots. If you're out of yellow onion but have green onion use those instead. Don't wanna cook the pasta in another pot? Throw the pasta and a little extra water in with the tomatoes.
Wanna mix up your meatballs? Do it! I mixed some ground turkey with some spicy sausage, Italian herbs, green onions, eggs, and bread crumbs. They were the bomb! The family loved them. Experiment, have fun, and just enjoy the fuck out of cooking!
